Effective: April 22, 2026
Ojee Labs built Dots in the Trap as a free-to-play iOS game with optional in-app purchases. This Privacy Policy explains what data is collected when you use the app, how it is used, and your rights with respect to that data. We are committed to being transparent and collecting only what is necessary to operate and improve the game.
Who We Are
Dots in the Trap is developed and published by Ojee Labs. For any privacy-related questions or requests, you can reach us at:

Data We Collect
We collect a minimal set of data necessary to operate the game and understand how it is being used. We do not collect your name, email address, or any information that directly identifies you.
- Anonymous device ID — Generated locally on your device at first launch. Identifies your device across sessions for analytics continuity. Not linked to your identity.
- Gameplay analytics events — Collected during app use via PostHog. Used to understand which stages are played, completed, or exited, tutorial completion rates, and session patterns.
- Monetization events — Collected when you interact with the upgrade prompt or make a purchase. No payment information is collected by us — all purchases are handled by Apple.
- Game Center data — Leaderboard scores (stage number reached per mode). Collected and managed by Apple under their own privacy policy.
- Purchase entitlement — Whether the Pro unlock IAP has been purchased, managed via RevenueCat.
- Device metadata — App version, iOS version, and device model. Used to prioritize bug fixes and compatibility improvements.
Data We Do Not Collect
- Your name, email address, or any contact information
- Your location or GPS data
- Your camera, microphone, or photo library
- Your contacts or calendar
- Payment card details or financial information (all purchases are processed by Apple)
- Any data from other apps on your device
Third-Party Services
The app integrates with the following third-party services, each of which has its own privacy policy:
- Apple Game Center — leaderboard scores. Governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
- PostHog — anonymous gameplay analytics. Governed by PostHog's Privacy Policy.
- RevenueCat — in-app purchase entitlement management. Governed by RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
We do not sell your data to any third party. We do not share your data with advertisers.
Data Retention
Anonymous analytics events are retained for up to 24 months and then deleted. Purchase entitlement records are retained as long as your account is active with RevenueCat. Game Center data is managed by Apple and subject to their retention policies.
Progress data (stage completion, star ratings) is stored locally on your device only and is deleted if you uninstall the app.
Children's Privacy
Dots in the Trap is rated 4+ on the App Store and is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Because all identifiers we collect are anonymous device IDs with no associated personal information, the app complies with COPPA and Apple's guidelines for apps available to children.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your data under applicable laws such as GDPR (European Union) or CCPA (California). Because we collect only anonymous identifiers, most of these rights have limited practical application — we cannot identify you from your device ID alone. However, you may:
- Request information about the data we hold associated with your anonymous device ID
- Request deletion of analytics data associated with your device ID
- Opt out of analytics by contacting us — we will suppress your device ID from future event collection
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@ojeelabs.com.
Security
We use industry-standard practices to protect the data we collect. Analytics data is transmitted securely over HTTPS. Local progress data is stored in your device's sandboxed storage and is not accessible to other apps.
Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
