These Terms of Service govern your use of Last Word, an iOS and Android application developed and published by Ojee Labs. By downloading or using the app, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Last Word, you confirm that you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy, or, if you are under 13, that a parent or guardian has reviewed and agreed to them on your behalf.
Ojee Labs reserves the right to update these terms at any time. The effective date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
License to Use
Ojee Labs grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Last Word on any device you own or control, subject to these terms and the terms of the app store you downloaded it from.
You may not:
- Copy, modify, or distribute the app or any part of it, including its puzzles
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code
- Use the app for any commercial purpose without our express written consent
- Remove or alter any proprietary notices or labels on the app
- Use cheats, exploits, automation software, bots, or any unauthorized third-party software, or send requests to our servers other than through the app
Last Word+
Last Word is free to download. The daily puzzle, hints, the leaderboard, and the 7 most recent Library puzzles are free for everyone. Last Word+ is optional and unlocks every past puzzle in the Puzzle Library and replaying Library puzzles from scratch. It is offered as a monthly subscription, a yearly subscription, or a one-time lifetime purchase. All purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store or by Google through Google Play.
- Subscriptions renew automatically. Payment is charged to your App Store or Google Play account when you confirm the purchase, and your subscription renews at the same price for the same period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
- Free trial. Where offered, the monthly and yearly plans start with a 3-day free trial for new subscribers. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, the subscription starts and you are charged at the end of the trial.
- Cancelling. You can manage or cancel a subscription in your App Store or Google Play account settings, or from Settings → Last Word+ in the app. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep Last Word+ until the end of the period you've paid for.
- Lifetime. The lifetime purchase is a one-time payment, not a subscription. You will not be charged again.
- Refunds. All purchases are final. Refunds are handled solely by Apple or Google in accordance with their refund policies.
- Restoring. Last Word+ is tied to your Apple ID or Google account and can be restored on any device signed in to the same account using Restore Purchases in Settings or on the upgrade screen.
- Family Sharing. Where the store supports it, Last Word+ can be shared with your family group.
- Lapse. If a subscription ends or a purchase is refunded, the full Library locks again and replays stop. Your saved progress is kept.
- Ojee Labs reserves the right to modify, discontinue, or update Last Word+ offerings at any time. Existing purchases and active subscription periods will be honored.
- Prices are subject to change. Current pricing is displayed in the app and in the store at the point of purchase.
Leaderboard
Last Word has one daily leaderboard shared by all players. Your entry is checked and scored by our servers. Library puzzles, and plays that reach us after a puzzle's day has ended, are not ranked.
Leaderboard names can only be built from our word lists. Ojee Labs reserves the right to remove, reset, or rename leaderboard entries that we determine result from cheating, exploitation, automation, or unauthorized modification of the app.
Game Progress
Your puzzle progress, play streak, and settings are stored only on your device. They are not backed up by Ojee Labs and will be lost if you delete the app or move to a new device; reinstalling also starts a new leaderboard identity. Your Last Word+ purchase can always be restored through the App Store or Google Play. Ojee Labs is not responsible for lost game progress.
We may update puzzles, difficulty, and scoring presentation over time to keep the game fair and fun. Each day's puzzle is the same for every player.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, Last Word may send an occasional reminder when you haven't played in a couple of days. You can turn reminders off at any time in the app's Settings or in your phone's settings.
Intellectual Property
All content in Last Word — including but not limited to the puzzles, word lists, graphics, haptic design, game design, code, and the Ojee Labs name and logo — is the exclusive property of Ojee Labs or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
Nothing in these terms grants you any right to use the Ojee Labs name, logo, or any other proprietary material without our prior written consent. You are welcome to share the app's spoiler-free result cards.
Disclaimers
Last Word is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. Ojee Labs does not warrant that the app, the daily puzzle, or the leaderboard will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Ojee Labs disclaims all warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Ojee Labs and its owners, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the app, including loss of data, game progress, or leaderboard standing.
In no event shall Ojee Labs’ total liability to you for all claims arising from or relating to these terms or your use of the app exceed the amount you paid for the app or its in-app purchases in the twelve months preceding the claim.
Termination
Ojee Labs reserves the right to terminate or suspend your access to the app or the leaderboard at any time, with or without cause, if we believe you have violated these terms or applicable law. Upon termination, your license to use the app is revoked.
You may stop using the app at any time by deleting it from your device. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription; cancel it in your store account settings.
Governing Law & Disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
Any dispute arising from these terms or your use of the app shall first be attempted to be resolved informally by contacting us at support@ojeelabs.com. If informal resolution is unsuccessful, disputes shall be resolved by binding arbitration in California, except that either party may seek injunctive or other equitable relief in a court of competent jurisdiction.
Apple App Store
If you downloaded Last Word from the App Store, these terms are between you and Ojee Labs only, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content. In the event of any conflict between these terms and Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement, Apple's terms shall govern.
Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support services for Last Word. Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these terms and may enforce them against you.
Google Play
If you downloaded Last Word from Google Play, these terms are between you and Ojee Labs only, not with Google. Your use of Google Play, including purchases, is also subject to the Google Play Terms of Service. Google is not responsible for the app or its content.
